Forest School

What is Forest School?

“We believe that young people develop most when they are ‘learning by doing’, when they are given responsibility, work in teams, take acceptable risks and think for themselves”

Forest School is an inspirational process, that offers all learners regular opportunities to achieve and develop confidence and self esteem, through hands on learning experiences in a woodland or natural environments with trees.

Forest School is a long term process of regular sessions. Forest School is an inclusive learning experience for all. What makes this style of education work is that it plays to a child’s strengths in a meaningful context and, therefore, nobody fails.

Forest School offers learners the opportunity to take supported risks appropriate to the environment and to themselves.

Sessions are facilitated by qualified Forest School Leader Mrs Lee.

All children attend Forest School sessions over the academic year. We enjoy our sessions and have used tools, made shelters, cooked on the fire, made natural art, learned about different cultures and plus much more fun!

“If your emotional abilities aren’t in hand, if you don’t have self awareness, if you are not able to manage your distressing emotions, if you can’t have empathy and have effective relationships, then no matter how smart you are, you are not going to get very far”. ~
