Curriculum Intent

“Everything is possible for the person who has faith” – Mark 9:23

At St Aidan’s our curriculum intent is such that our curriculum extends opportunity, raises aspirations, opens children’s eyes to their locality and the wider world, inspires them to want to learn more and enables them to live happy, healthy and productive lives.

Through the fundamental British Values and our Core Christian Values of Love, Compassion, Trust and Togetherness, we promote positive attitudes to learning which reflect the values and skills needed to promote responsibility for learning and future success.

Our curriculum is carefully planned through a themed approach, ensuring it is relevant, exciting, purposeful and holistic; embedded across all subject areas. It is focused on the development and retention of knowledge and skills and parents are actively encouraged to be part of their child’s learning journey. It is a progressive model; a journey through a sequenced body of knowledge and skills.

Through our curriculum, we encourage our pupils to be curious, knowledgeable, adventurous, creative, collaborative, reflective, positive and resilient.

Every child is recognised as a unique individual and the curriculum we offer reflects that; celebrating and welcoming differences within our diverse school community.
