This is Class 5YR!
During our History Topic we made Anglo-Saxon brooches using cardboard, newspaper, modrock and paint.
We dressed up in a 'Pudsey' theme for Children in Need.
Class 5YR put up and decorated our Christmas Tree with baubles, hand-made decorations and 'Lamby' (the mischievous sheep given to us by Mother Gemma).
Year 5 went on a school trip to Robin Wood. We took part in lots of different activities such as climbing, the Giant Swing and the Piranha Pool! We played team games and had lovely hot chocolate before bed!
Tuesday 9th February was Safer Internet Day. We watched video clips informing us about how to be safe online and designed posters showing how we will be kind online.
We have been reading 'The Amazing Story of Adolphus Tips'. We created a piece of drama after reading one of the chapters and we peer-assessed each others' work.
We have been learning Samba and practising rhythms. Our Samba group is called 'The Purple Hamster Samba'!
We made boxes for our gas masks, wrote our WW2 names on our evacuee cards and packed a lunch ready to be evacuated to Beamish! When we arrived we travelled by tram to the farm where we helped to create blackout windows and made carrot cookies! We later visited to town (the dentist, solicitors and the sweet shop!). We browsed the fantastic toys and games in the gift shop before we set off home, avoiding the rain!
Author and illustrator Jim Smith visited school and taught us how to draw characters like his. He drew Alfi and Abbie in the style of his 'Barry Loser' characters.
"His books are really good, I have read all of Barry Loser!"- Maddison.
